Zelle Hofmann Co-Counsel in NCAA Antitrust Suit

July 22, 2009

Zelle Hofmann, together with Hausfeld LLP and other law firms, is plaintiff's co-counsel  in a class action suit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) on behalf of former UCLA basketball star Ed O’Bannon and thousands of former NCAA Division I student-athletes.

The complaint, filed July 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, includes allegations that the NCAA illegally denied former student-athletes compensation for the use of their images and likenesses in numerous revenue-generating formats, including DVD sales and rentals, photograph sales, video games, “stock footage” clips sold to corporate advertisers, jersey and other apparel sales, and rebroadcasts of “classic” games.
