Zelle Attorneys to Present at 2026 NACA Annual Convention
January 25, 2026Zelle attorneys Lindsey Davis, Steven Badger, and Brandt Johnson will present at the 2026 National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters (NACA) Annual Convention in Durant, Oklahoma.
Steven Badger, a partner in Zelle’s Dallas, TX office, will deliver the keynote presentation “Insurance and Public Policy Issues Arising from the 9/11 Terrorist Attack.”
Drawing from his decade-long leadership in the $5 billion subrogation litigation following the 9/11 attacks, Badger will share insights into how the insurance industry responded to one of the most complex and consequential events in modern history. Attendees will gain perspective on the legal, regulatory, and public policy challenges that emerged—and how they continue to shape the industry today.
The keynote will take place during the Opening General Session on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 7:45 am – 9:45 am (CT).
Lindsey Davis, a partner in Zelle’s Minneapolis, MN office, will present “Common Abuses in First Party Property Claims.”
This session will explore recurring patterns of abuse in the adjustment and litigation of first-party property claims, including inflated estimates, improper contractor practices, and misapplication of policy provisions. Davis will provide practical strategies for identifying and mitigating these abuses, with a focus on improving claim outcomes and reducing exposure to bad faith allegations.
The presentation will take place on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm (CT).
Brandt Johnson, also a partner in Zelle’s Dallas, TX office, will present “What the Hail is Going On? Fraud in Cat Claims.” This session will examine the rise of fraudulent practices in catastrophe claims, particularly those involving hail and wind damage. Johnson will discuss recent litigation trends, forensic investigation techniques, and the evolving role of adjusters and experts in combating fraud. Attendees will leave with actionable insights for improving claim integrity and defending against deceptive practices.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm (CT).
