Zelle Hofmann Obtains Settlement in Major 9/11 Insurance Case
October 3, 2009On October 2, 2009, a federal court in New York entered an order dismissing Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Company from a lawsuit and appraisal relating to insurance claims made by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for property damage and business interruption caused by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Both Allianz and the Port Authority were pleased to reach an amicable resolution of this matter.
In February 2008, Allianz and other insurers won a significant summary judgment ruling, rejecting the Port Authority's attempt to claim under its separate insurance program for property damage to the Twin Towers and other portions of the World Trade Center Property also insured under the Silverstein (World Trade Center Properties LLC) insurance program.
