The Legal 500 U.S. 2019 Ranks Zelle LLP as Tier 1 Civil Litigation/Class Action: Plaintiff Law Firm

May 31, 2019

Legal 500, considered one of the most comprehensive worldwide qualitative guides available on lawyers and law firms, has announced its 2019 rankings. This year, Zelle LLP is ranked as a Tier 1 Civil Litigation/Class Actions: Plaintiff law firm. Zelle was one of only five nationwide ranked in Tier 1.

Zelle San Francisco partner Judith Zahid and Washington, DC partner James Robertson Martin, who co-chair the Firm’s antitrust group, were also named among “Leading Lawyers” and Zelle San Francisco partner Qianwei Fu was also recognized as a “Next Generation Lawyer.”

The Legal 500 notes “Zelle LLP's antitrust litigation practice is led jointly by Judith Zahid (San Francisco) and James Robertson Martin (DC). The pair recently teamed up with Washington DC's Jennifer Duncan Hackett and San Francisco-based counsel Eric Buetzow to advise UnitedHealthcare on its claim against major pharmaceuticals companies alleging that they conspired to inflate the price of a certain brand drug through unlawful 'pay-for-delay' deals to hinder the entry to market of generic competition. In other highlights, the team acted for automotive dealer plaintiffs in their claims arising from the landmark global auto parts manufacturing cartel, and San Francisco-based Christopher Micheletti represents a class of consumer purchasers of packaged seafood products against the US's major producers on the grounds of an alleged price-fixing conspiracy. Clients in the technology manufacturing and financial services fields have also engaged the group to oversee litigation pertaining to alleged antitrust violations in the ion-lithium rechargeable batteries market and with respect to Libor manipulation.”

The U.S. edition of The Legal 500 is now in its 12th year and, like the other established editions of the guide, is relied upon by millions of buyers of legal services worldwide when they need to instruct outside counsel. The Legal 500 analyzes the capabilities of law firms across the world, with a comprehensive research program revised and updated every year to bring the most up-to-date vision of the global legal market. The Legal 500 assesses the strengths of law firms in over 150 jurisdictions.
