Zelle Announces 2018 Diversity in Law Scholarship Recipient

January 16, 2019

Zelle LLP is pleased to announce Quyen Truong as the recipient of the firm’s 2018 Diversity in Law Scholarship. Truong will receive a financial scholarship of $15,000 for her second year and, if her GPA at the end of her second year is at least a 3.0, then she will receive the additional $15,000 for her third year. This award is to be applied toward her law school tuition, fees, and text books. She will also be assigned a mentor at the firm for her remaining law school career.

Truong is enrolled in the evening division program of the University of Connecticut School of Law. She currently works full-time at the North Central Regional Mental Health Board to ensure that the voices of diverse communities across Connecticut are represented in healthcare reform efforts. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University, and later received a full scholarship to Harvard University for her graduate studies.

“The Zelle scholarship program will connect me with the financial support and mentorship I need to attain my long-term career goals,” said Truong. “The scholarship will empower me to pursue positions of influence, leadership, and power within the legal profession, and help me advance my career objectives.”

The Diversity in Law Scholarship is the keystone of the firm's Diversity Outreach Plan and was created for second-year law students who either (1) are a member of a diverse group that is historically underrepresented in the private practice of law; or (2) demonstrate a long-standing commitment to diversity that will be furthered by award of the scholarship.
