Zelle Hofmann is Silver Champion in "2013 Champions of Diversity Challenge" for At-Risk Youth

June 18, 2013

Seventeen prominent law firms joined a competitive campaign in recent weeks to support hundreds of local high schoolers that are working to change their lives. The firms came together to support the Bay Area Urban Debate League (BAUDL), a debate mentoring program that serves thirteen Bay Area high schools. Together the firms raised more than $169,000, far exceeding the 2012 record of more than $80,000 for the Second Annual Champions of Diversity Challenge.  Zelle Hofmann Voelbel & Mason LLP claimed the title of Silver Champion, by raising $12,694, or $907 per attorney. Zelle Hofmann was also this year’s “Per Attorney Winner” for the fundraising campaign.

“Our hope is that this year’s fundraising will help BAUDL serve 100-200 additional students and expand into several additional underserved Bay Area high schools,” said attorney Demetrius Lambrinos, who led the push at Zelle Hofmann and also served as Chair of the Legal Pipeline Committee and a member of the BAUDL board.

BAUDL fosters debate teams in urban public schools with limited resources, working to increase students’ academic performance, expand college and career opportunities, and train a generation of eloquent, responsible leaders.
