Zelle Hofmann Attorneys Obtain Preliminary Approval of $539 Million In LCD Class Action Settlements

February 1, 2012

A San Francisco federal judge has granted preliminary approval to $539 million in class action settlements in the LCD indirect-purchaser case, in which Zelle Hofmann serves as co-lead class counsel.  The January 26, 2012 order paves the way for the potential final approval later this year of the settlements, which are among the largest all-cash indirect-purchaser class settlements ever obtained.  Under the settlements, consumers and businesses in 25 states will be eligible to receive money for purchases of TVs, laptop computers, and computer monitors containing LCD panels that were allegedly price-fixed during the 1999-2006 time period.

Zelle Hofmann Attorneys Judith A. Zahid, Qianwei Fu, and Heather T. Rankie, all of the firm's San Francisco office, worked on the matter.  The case remains ongoing against three non-settling defendants, and the trial is scheduled for April 23, 2012.
