This presentation provides an in-depth look at post-loss assignments of benefits (AOBs), unlicensed public adjusting, and related legal and practical issues impacting insurance claims. Using recent cases, the presentation examines how courts nationwide are treating AOBs, including statutory prohibitions, enforceability questions, and consumer protection concerns. The program also explores developments such as matching, valuation (ACV vs. RCV vs. functional replacement cost), and coinsurance penalties. Attendees will gain insight into the evolving legal landscape, the risks of consumer confusion and conflicts of interest, and the practical implications these issues pose for insurers, insureds, and claims professionals
