March 3, 2018

Several Zelle partners will be presenting at the Property Insurance Law Committee (PILC) Spring CLE Meeting hosted by the American Bar Association. The conference will take place in Nashville, Tennessee on March 1-3, 2018. Zelle is a sponsor of the PILC and this conference.

Moreover, the panel will address how difficult personalities can hinder the ultimate resolution of the claim adjustment or litigation involving first-party property insurance matters. Finally, the panel will address options for responding to late night emails, aggressive litigation tactics, and unreasonable expectations from either party.

Jonathan MacBride, a partner in Zelle’s Philadelphia office, will present on a panel titled “Windy Business: Adjusting CAT Claims Post Harvey.” This panel will focus on the challenges facing the adjustment of catastrophe claims, including but not limited to, calculating property damage, and measuring and recovering business interruption losses. The panel will also discuss the September 1, 2017 changes to the Texas Prompt Payment Act and their impact on Harvey claims.

Steven Badger, a partner in Zelle’s Dallas office, will present on a panel titled “Hail Yes, Hail No!” This session will provide a unique perspective into hail-related property losses and the challenges associated with adjusting, prosecuting, or defending hail-related claims. The panel will identify pertinent coverage issues across various jurisdictions and notable exclusions common to many insurance policies.
