Qianwei Fu to Moderate Panel on “Understanding and Navigating Cross-Border Privilege Issues”
May 18, 2017Qianwei Fu, a partner in Zelle’s San Francisco office, will moderate a webinar titled “Understanding and Navigating Cross-Border Privilege Issues” for the State Bar of California, co-sponsored by the Antitrust and International Law Sections. The webinar will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m.-Noon Pacific. One MCLE credit will be offered to attendees.
The fact that privilege attaches to a document or communication in one jurisdiction does not mean that the privilege can be claimed in another jurisdiction. With litigation becoming increasingly international, privilege issues frequently arise in disputes that span multiple jurisdictions. The panelists will discuss how the differing approaches to privilege rules in the U.S., the EU, and other major jurisdictions may affect parties’ legal risk when transferring information across international borders and offer practical insights on how to navigate privilege pitfalls in cross-border matters.
