Zelle Attorneys to Present at TIPS Property Insurance Law Committee Annual Spring CLE Meeting

Zelle attorneys Jonathan MacBride and Jennifer Gibbs will present at the TIPS Property Insurance Law Committee Annual Spring CLE Meeting titled “Lessons Learned: How Major Catastrophic Losses Shape Property Insurance Law,” which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 7-9, 2016.   The event is sponsored by the American Bar Association. 

MacBride will serve on a panel on the topic “September 11, 2001 and Loss Valuation Including Periods of Indemnity for Time Element Losses.”  Joining MacBride on the panel will be Marshall Gilinsky of Anderson Kill, Jonathan Held of J.S. Held, and Daniel Markowicz of Matson Driscoll & Damico.  This panel will discuss issues concerning loss valuation and measurement arising out of the September 11, 2001 attacks, including the scope of replacement cost coverage under commercial property policies, periods of indemnity for time element losses, and claims for loss of market. 

Gibbs will co-present on the topic “Hurricane Katrina and Wind v. Flood Coverage” with Robert Siegel of Geiger, Laborde & Laperouse.  This presentation will address property coverage questions that arose after Hurricane Katrina, including causation and damage issues involving wind versus flood and the application of anti-concurrent causation policy provisions.
