Adrienne Nelson
Adrienne is Counsel in the firm’s Dallas office, where her practice is focused on all aspects of first-party residential and commercial insurance disputes, in both litigation and in appraisal.
Adrienne has extensive experience working with and representing numerous leading domestic insurance companies in complex matters involving property insurance coverage disputes and allegations of bad faith. She is at the forefront of legal issues affecting property insurance, particularly those involving weather-related catastrophes such as hurricanes, wind, and hail. Over Adrienne’s thirteen-years’ experience in the insurance industry, she has developed an expertise in property insurance law that her colleagues and clients recognize and respect.
Representative Matters
- First-Party Insurance Coverage.
- Obtained favorable defense verdicts on behalf of property insurance carriers in residential cases arising out of damage due to hail and other weather events in both State and Federal courts.
- Obtained numerous summary judgments in state and federal court on behalf of property insurers, dismissing breach of contract and extra-contractual claims of bad faith.
- Negotiated favorable settlements of Breach of Contract, Insurance Code, DTPA, Unfair Insurance Practices, Breach of Duty of Good Faith and Fair Dealing claims against Texas insurance companies and adjusters in commercial and residential cases filed in difficult venues.
- Obtained favorable rulings setting aside appraisal awards where appropriate based on fraud, accident, mistake or that are not an honest assessment of necessary repairs.
- Represented insurers in judicial proceedings involving appraisal and obtained post-appraisal summary judgments on behalf of property insurance carriers, dismissing all contractual and extra-contractual claims following payment of an appraisal award.
- Represented and advised various insurers in further investigating numerous residential and commercial property claims through conducting examinations under oath.
