Zelle LLP Expands California Insurance Practice

Elizabeth A. (“Betsy”) Doyle has joined Zelle LLP’s California insurance practice group, strengthening Zelle’s ability to provide first and third-party coverage advice and litigation defense to its clients with California exposures. Doyle will join and work closely with Jonathan R. MacBride, a senior partner with more than 30 years of experience in insurance coverage and defense matters, who was recently admitted to practice in California.

Elizabeth A. Doyle

Doyle brings more than two decades of insurance coverage and bad‑faith defense experience representing general liability, professional liability, and property carriers. Prior to joining Zelle, she served as Of Counsel at a regional law firm, and previously worked in-house for an international insurer, handling complex coverage issues, suit avoidance strategies investigations of suspicious claims, and dispute resolution with underwriting and claims teams. Her recent work has focused on complex construction defect coverage disputes, policy rescission litigation, and inter-insurer recovery, including priority of coverage and loss allocation.

Jonathan R. MacBride

MacBride’s practice, spanning nearly 30 years, concentrates on insurance coverage and extra-contractual claims, including bad faith, on behalf of leading domestic and international insurers. He has advised and litigated matters nationwide involving fires, explosions, construction defects, turbine and refractory losses, wind turbine failures, cyber incidents, and natural disasters. His experience covers All‑Risk, Builder’s Risk, Boiler & Machinery, Energy and Renewable Energy, Cyber, and Contingency policies. In addition to being licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, MacBride was recently admitted in California. He frequently speaks on first-party coverage topics and previously chaired the ABA TIPS Property Insurance Law Committee.
