Meredith C. Schilling

Meredith focuses her practice on litigating complex insurance coverage litigation in first-party property and casualty claims and defending bad faith and extra-contractual claims in both state and federal courts.  Meredith has significant insurance coverage experience, from rendering pre-suit coverage opinions through litigation and post-trial appeals.  Her work in the insurance sector includes residential property insurance, commercial property insurance, inland marine, construction and builder’s risk programs, boiler & machinery / equipment breakdown and cyber insurance.  She has handled multiple cases involving COVID-19 business interruption (BI) and time element claims made against property insurance policies.

Meredith is experienced in all aspects of litigation practice and has represented insureds and self-insureds in third-party claims involving general casualty and premises liability, liquor liability, automobile liability and construction site accidents.  She has also worked with clients to identify and pursue subrogation claims.

Her diverse first-party property insurance experience also includes litigating claims under the National Flood Insurance Program’s Standard Flood Insurance Policies issued by “Write-Your-Own” (WYO) insurers.  In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, she achieved positive results working on Sandy-related litigation filed in New Jersey Federal Court and coordinated with FEMA’s Office of Chief Counsel to resolve numerous claims in the Hurricane Sandy Claims Review Process.

Additionally, she serves on the firm's eDiscovery team.

Prior to joining Zelle LLP, Meredith was a litigation associate at another Philadelphia law firm.
